Welcome to the Panjwani Hisar Water Institute’s (PHWI) website!

I am honored to be the Director of this prestigious institution, which is dedicated to advancing the science and technology of water. Water is essential for life, and it is also a vital resource for our economy and the environment. Therefore, water related research is indispensable to developing new solutions to the water challenges facing the world today, such as water scarcity, water pollution, and the impacts of climate change. This institute has aim of excellence in advanced learning with focus on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies, and behavioral change to safeguard and secure Pakistan’s water resources and develop global water leadership.

PHWI’s agenda primarily focuses on postgraduate degree programs, specialized training, and short courses in water (Hydraulics, Hydrology, Irrigation, and Drainage etc.), such as Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) and Water-based Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and provision of a range of water-related disciplines. The institution is committed to focusing upon and engaging with stakeholders to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To achieve these goals, the Institute is equipped with five fully equipped labs, smart classrooms, cutting-edge research innovation in water systems, and water conservation programs.

The research in the institute also emphasizes on the impact of sustainable water resource management on socio-economic development at local and national scale. In addition, the institute is working on a wide range of water-related issues, including Water quality, Water conservation, Water treatment, Water reuse, Desalination, Water and water data management, Climate change adaptation etc.  I am proud of the work that is done here at the PHWI and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together in the years to come.

This institute goal is to prioritize quality teaching,  research, and training, and stakeholder engagement. Furthermore, building intellectual and robust scientific research approaches towards water education is one of the primary goals of the institution. In addition, development of partnerships with government, agriculture, industries, communities, and water-user groups are also priority of this institute.

Another important factor which is highlighted is changing the mind-set of students, stakeholders, and society regarding water use, conservation, and stewardship of water. Therefore, I hope our work at PHWI will inspire you to join us in the effort to solve the world's water challenges.
